How Our Packing Services in Kansas City Work

If you pack yourself, close the top of every box and label its destination room on the top and the sides. Unpacked loose items add hours on moving day, since each one has to be handled on its own.
Items Our Packers Will Not Box
Some things cannot go on a moving truck at all. Our movers will not pack or load flammable and hazardous items. Plan to use these up or dispose of them before moving day:
- Aerosol cans and cleaning fluids
- Paint, oil cans and thinner
- Propane tanks and gas or oil from lawnmowers
- Ammunition and fireworks
- Other household liquids that can leak or ignite
Get a written appraisal for antiques before the move so you have a record of their value. Empty the refrigerator and defrost and dry it the day before we come.
Adding Packing to Your Kansas City Move
Ask for full packing when you request your quote. We do not publish a separate packing rate. Packing becomes part of your quote, and like every quote we send after scheduling, it will not change on moving day. There is no service tax added.

Unpacking and Recycling the Boxes
Because every box is labeled by room, our movers set each one in the right place at the new home. Unpack the kitchen and bathrooms first, then bedrooms. Keep an essentials box handy with toilet paper, towels, dish soap, a flashlight and a change of clothes.
When the boxes are empty, Kansas City, Missouri takes corrugated cardboard in the city recycling cart. The curbside recycling rules say to flatten every box and keep each piece under 4 feet in any direction. Extra recyclables can go next to the cart in a labeled box or paper bag under 32 gallons. Packing peanuts, foam and plastic wrap are not accepted.
