What Our House Movers Handle, Room by Room
Here is how each part of a home move works with us, and what you can do ahead of time.
Bedrooms
We take apart bed frames, headboards and bunk beds, and rebuild them at the new house at no extra charge. Remove linens from the beds and empty heavy or breakable items from dressers before we arrive.
Kitchen and Dining Room
Clean out the refrigerator and defrost and dry it the day before. We move tables, chairs and china cabinets padded and wrapped. Pack dishes in boxes with the tops closed, or book our movers to pack them.
Living Room and Office Nook
Couches, recliners, bookshelves and desks go out wrapped. Unplug all electronics before moving day. Plasma TVs should be unplugged the day before so they are at room temperature when we move them.
Garage, Basement and Yard
Drain gas and oil from lawnmowers and empty water hoses before the move. We will not load propane tanks, paint, thinner or other flammables, so plan to use them up or drop them off before moving day.

Our home movers charge by the hour for two movers and a truck on local moves. Minimums vary by season: 2-hour minimum, or 3-hour minimum during peak season (May through September).

Moving Days That Fit Your Family
We work Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Many families pick a Saturday so no one misses work or school. If your closing date moves or a lease ends early, we can often schedule with as little as 24 hours notice.
Selling one house and buying another on the same day? Tell us both addresses and your closing times when you request a quote. Moving within the metro, like from Blue Springs to Shawnee or into a new build in Raymore, starts with the same quote form.
Clearing Out Before a Kansas City House Move
Every item you get rid of is one less item on the truck and fewer hours on your bill. Donate clothing and furniture you no longer want about a month before moving day. If you live in Kansas City, Missouri, the city offers free Kansas City bulky item pickup by appointment:
- Book online or call 311. Items are not collected without an appointment
- Up to 15 items per appointment, under 500 pounds total
- Set items within 3 feet of the curb by 7am on pickup day, and no earlier than 3pm the day before
- Accepted: appliances, couches, beds, mattresses, tables and cabinets
- Not accepted: bags, boxes, loose items, fuel tanks, yard waste and tires
Have more than that, or need it gone sooner? Our junk removal service hauls old furniture, appliances and debris and recycles what it can.
Pairing Residential Moving With Other Services
Some home moves need more than loading and driving. Our packing services box, wrap and label everything in the house. Our piano movers handle uprights and grands on stairs and through tight corners.

Your First Night in the New House
Label every box with its destination room on the top and the sides. Our movers then carry each one straight to that room, so you are not hunting through the garage for the kitchen boxes. Keep an essentials box with you with toilet paper, a shower curtain, towels, a change of clothes and a phone charger.
Have us set up the beds first. We rebuild every bed frame we took apart before we leave, so you can sleep in your own bed the first night. Unpack the kitchen and bathrooms next, then work room by room.
